Song Lyric Sunday (10/28/18) – Give/Giving

Helen’s prompt for this week’s Song Lyric Sunday is the word give/giving. My selection for her prompt means I am finally able to post a song I’ve been wanting to for awhile. I remember when this supergroup formed from famous previous prog bands such as King Crimson, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and the keyboardist from Buggles (Video Killed the Radio Star).

This was my favorite song off their debut and self-titled album. It has an incredibly driving beat and some wonderful harmonies. The lyrics do not hide the message. It is not a song that received airplay like Heat of the Moment or Only Time Will Tell. Here, by the band Asia, is the song Time Again.

Fate looks certain but there’s nothing guaranteed
Want for nothing, but is nothing what you need?
Always pushing but you’re never satisfied
I did believe you ’til I found out that you lied

[Chorus:]
Time and time again
Time and time again again

For what I give you I get nothing in return
Can’t forgive you watching all your bridges burn
All day long I sat and watched you do it wrong
Have to say that’s how you did it all along

[Chorus]
Time and time again
Time and time again again

But others wouldn’t see things you could only see
And someone showed you, then why was it always me
You knew the limit you were always out of bounds
How could I trust you when I caught you messing ’round

[Chorus]
Time and time again
Time and time again again
