Fear

I fear.
I fear me and also you.
I fear what I say. What I do.
What I did not. I would not. Should not.
I fear staying. I fear going.
I fear love and growing.
Too late.

  1. I have always thought of fear as something to be taken with you, rather than something you try to scrub away. That is just what this poem says to me with the last line. You afraid of it all and you take that fear with you into the doing. Maybe I am just projecting. In any case, a beautiful poem in a simple and complex package.
