The Great Divide

Have you ever seen
The sky so blue it wept for all
The unseen flowers that died?

Have you ever kissed
A corn silk summer day
That waved goodbye too soon?

Have you ever danced
In the breaking waves of
The echoes of loud laughter?

Have you ever tasted
The sweet-water resin coating
Lips from long overdue hellos?

Have you ever hidden
In your doorless shadowbox,
A prison to construct for ourselves?

We all say farewell
When there are no more haves
To stop the flood of have nots.
