Shrouded In an Iron Curtain ~ Brandewulf — MORALITY PARK

Do you know
How silence feels?
It is as weightless
And dark as space.
It sucks the air
From viscous lungs
That once did shout
Such sounds of joy.

To know is to feel
This blanket black,
A shadowed serpent
Wrapped around the neck.
Coiled. Constricting.
Fully filling the throat
With variegated scales
Of acrimonious alibis.

Silence. A stifling song
Most horrid. Most hollow.
Scribbled with notes,
Penned on parchment
Made from the hides
Of those sad souls
That life first lifted
Then caustically flayed.

Too easy to ignore each
Gagged and muzzled
Cadaver of the past.
Love’s selfish soldier
Shuffles by bridges burned
Behind apathetic backs
Bent, bowed, broken, and
Too lonely to say…no more.

    1. Thank you, Tanya. I’ve always wondered what I would miss more…what would isolate me more…darkness or silence….I guess this answers that question. Life in silence would shatter me.

        1. You’re out of the woods
          You’re out of the dark
          You’re out of the night
          Step into the sun
          Step into the light

Keep straight ahead for the most glorious place
On the face of the earth or the sky
          Hold onto your breath
          Hold onto your heart
          Hold onto your hope
March up to the gate and bid it open
