Wrong Shoes

Ill-fitting on unfamiliar feet.
Stepping with a wide stride
While walking in a foreign haze.
Dazed but unfazed on unsteady gait
Meandering and measuring the miles.

Mis-laced and misplaced;
Chasing the thoughts promenading
On parapets of self-reflection.
Tracing steps of a lost connection
That lead to forgotten moments.

Toe to heel. Toe to heel.
Ingloriously galavanting
In neo-narcissism gone wild
To catch a glimpse of the grin
On the mad man in the mirror.
