Let Them Out…and Dance

I wasn’t quite certain whether I was going to publish and file this in a Hidden Gem or not. I’ve been circling some thoughts for a bit and realized that I wanted this song-post to stand on its own. Too late we remember that there is still that voice within us that needs to laugh too loud. Too late we remember what it was like to feel free. Let those childlike spirits out. Let them out and dance. Let them rule your world if only for a short time. Take them by the hand and feel the genuine joy.

Please…turn this up and let the double-drum beats take you . Seriously…you. Yeah you who thinks you are too old…or life has you by the shorthairs. Maybe it does…but for the next 3 minutes and 48 seconds it doesn’t have to.

Stand up if you can and dance. Dance in your chair if you need….but just do it. Join the wild Wulf and dance. You will be surprised how contagious you might become. And this is a sickness we never need cure.

Here is The Icicle Works with Whisper To a Scream (Birds Fly).

Love comes
Down upon us and it flows like water
Burning with the hope of insight
Feathered books the colors of the bright elation
Stolen in the sight of love
We are we are we are we’re just children
Finding our way around indecision
We are we are we are rather helpless
Changes forever
Whisper to a scream
Birds fly
In the eye of the pathos daughter
Spoken
At the bitter end
Wasted
Sacrificed for the new nirvana
Night time sends the sun away
We are we are we are we’re just children
Finding our way around indecision
We are we are we are rather helpless
Changes forever
Whisper to a scream
We are we are we are we’re just children
Finding our way around indecision
We are we are we are rather helpless
Changes forever
Whisper to a scream

  1. Now this one I remember!

I even dug deeper (after dancing πŸ˜‰ and discovered the US release date: March of 1984.

Okay, Tom, where was Tom in March of 1984?

In March of 1984 I was three months shy of 16 years old. I was a sophomore in high school. A leader in my church youth group. A storyteller for my small but dedicated gaming group, too. I probably lived in Laurel Heights or in Aragon Circle, but quite possibly already out in Prunedale. I had a crush on a girl who played with my heart. I was REALLY into MTV.

This must have played on MTV, at least a bit, because I remember it, I think. I was a child, dancing shamelessly alone (but never in public). I’m a much more public child now than I ever was then.

Fantastic gem, my friend. Once again, thank you for taking the lead. I found a bit of me in this. πŸ™‚

    1. You are so welcome. Thank you for sharing the story. This is a song that always pulls at me to dance when it plays. I heard it on the way home and just had to put it out there for others. I am so glad it struck the chord. I love being a musical tour guide, as I think it’s a secondary skill to my healer class. πŸ‘³β€β™‚οΈ

    1. Thank you. Believe it or not I struggled finding the right image I wanted to use. Most of them were international dance groups or more formalized. I wanted spontaneous and carefree. I am glad it brought back some great memories for you.

          1. My mom liked a lot of funk and R&B, so I dance a lot to Earth Wind & Fire and The GaP Band. I also love Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Smiths. And, although I don’t want to, I am loving dancing to Maroon Five lately; they have some good groovy tracks! Oh, and Blondie; I am always up for some Debbie Harry. Ok, the list goes on and on…..I grew up with so much music. I’ll write about that one day!!!!
