Helen’s theme for this week’s Song Lyric Sunday is the word truth. I thought a while on this one and went in a few different directions before settling on this one. It is a song by the band Evanescence from their first album. I remember hearing another song which prompted me to find out about them. I bought the album and was entranced by Amy Lee’s voice. The story behind my choice is a little bit different than a normal truth or lie. It tells the story of a six year old Amy when her 3 year old sister named Bonnie died. It speaks a side of Amy that tried to hide behind a lie to protect her fragile self from the loss. Her voice in this song is breathtaking. I give you, Hello, by Evanescence.

Playground school bell rings again
Rain clouds come to play again
Has no one told you she’s not breathing?
Hello, I am your mind giving you someone to talk to
If I smile and don’t believe
Soon I know I’ll wake from this dream
Don’t try to fix me, I’m not broken
Hello, I am the lie living for you so you can hide
Suddenly I know I’m not sleeping
Hello, I’m still here
All that’s left of yesterday
