Your eyes drift
To the distance. To the nothing. My nothing.
They focus and refocus.
Refract. Review. Rewind.
They stare and stare,
Willing me into existence.
Across the room you see me.
You made me. You bade me.
A shadow of self breathed life unto life
While your world spun upon an axis of strife.
A world. A word. A life anew
Until that gift of life did renew.
I reach out with fingers hungry to broach
The veneer of time and space that holds me. To touch you.
A mouth, my mouth, your mouth, opens to utter a single, soundless scream
As the fading silk of night slips around you and your eyes drift once more.
