Song Lyric Sunday (10/22/17) – Peace

This week’s challenge by Helen for Song Lyric Sunday is Peace. I’ve tried to give this one some deeper thought as there are many ways to approach it. For my selection this week, I thought about what brings me peace or what can make me feel at ease. For many of us it is a certain place. For others it is a memory. I am combining those two triggers for this selection. In an earlier blog entry of mine called Soundations I discussed the import of this band on creating the core framework for who I am musically. So, for this week’s SLS I give the band Renaissance and a song from their 1972 album Prologue. This song is called Sounds of the Sea. (It isn’t a short song, but I think you will find it hit’s the mark.)

Watching winter pools take me to the sea
Carried by the wind, sighing, feeling free
On the beach alone, seabirds circle there above me
Lonely winter day makes me want to stay
There where I belong, where I am real
Where I can feel sounds of the sea

Rivers flowing down, streaming in the sand
Shells are tangled in seaweed-drifting strands
Pools of silence stem, peace is sounding all around me
Lonely winter day makes me want to stay
There where I belong, where I am real
Where I can feel sounds of the sea

Sun sets slowly and night returns once more
Standing by the surf, coasting on the shore
Shadows in the night, echoes of the sea inside me
Lonely winter day makes me want to stay
There where I belong, where I am real
Where I can feel sounds of the sea
