Rush Reboot (bonus track live) – Resist (1996)

I give you a super special live bonus track release. I love the pairing of these lyrics. I hope this one lifts some spirits this weekend.

Today’s Rush Reboot is another one that is easier on the ears of those that aren’t fond of hard music. This is wonderful song that was often performed live so that Neil could rest after his artfully amazing solo’s. This song would feature Geddy and Alex sitting on stools on the stage as they performed it acoustically.

The song Resist from the album Test for Echo.

I can learn to resist
Anything but temptation
I can learn to co-exist
With anything but pain

I can learn to compromise
Anything but my desires
I can learn to get along
With all the things I can’t explain

I can learn to resist
Anything but frustration
I can learn to persist
With anything but aiming low

I can learn to close my eyes
To anything but injustice
I can learn to get along
With all the things I don’t know

You can surrender
Without a prayer
But never really pray
Pray without surrender

You can fight
Without ever winning
But never ever win
Without a fight

    1. I know…there are so many of them paired that way in this song. I already have next week’s ready to go, and it also has line pairings that are amazing. Glad you liked it, and I know you aren’t a hard music fan, so was hoping it would set more comfortable in your earhole. 😎

    1. Thank you…it really is, and one so many people don’t know. I started the Reboot to show those that might only be familiar with certain things about the band that there is such a depth and diversity to them born through 40 years of being who they wanted to be musically.

        1. Yes finally in 2013 ( . It was amazing to watch. The were inducted by Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters. I would HIGHLY recommend watch if you can to hear the audience reaction. The place for there for Rush. And the wildest thing was watching Flava Flav (Public Enemy were also inducted that year) go nuts dancing while Rush performed Spirit of the Radio. Never knew he was a fan.

            1. Agreed. And there is also this wonderful video of Dave playing drums once with Geddy and Alex. After the song was over, Dave flew from behind the set and threw his arms around Geddy like a little kid hugging his father. It was amazing.

                    1. Yeah never knew he was the practical joker he was until I watched their documentary called Beyond the Lighted Stage. Another must watch if possible. I recommend the blu-ray version to watch the extended dinner scene special feature…count the bottles of wine they order if you can. 😜
