Celebration – A Night to Remember and Wish I Could Forget

Part 3.

Getting back to our intrepid adventurers, you might recall that we had an amazing first day. Amazing up until I realized I had lost my 3-day access pass and had to buy a new one for $300. I needed to make sure I did not NOT cast a shadow over the time the boy was having, as this trip was all about him. so…

meanwhile back at the ranch…

Other than that incident, the day was full of exhibits, panels, shows, costumed attendees, and food. I must note, however, that while waiting in line for one panel, I looked down and saw that my SECOND lanyard was trying to leave me as well. Apparently the catch-hook on the neck strap was defective and opening by itself. That noted, I changed strap and averted another catastrophe.

We did not LEAVE that arena until it was about to shut down for the evening, so we had  a very full day. We enjoyed and partook of the food services throughout the venue, so dinner was not necessary. Exhausted, we finally made it back to our hotel for some well deserved relaxation. It was nice to chill out in the room, watch a little TV, and bond over the shared experience of sitting through one of the WORST movies ever: Nicholas Cage as Ghostrider. ARRRGHHHH!!!! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!

Sorry…I’m back…

So we enjoyed mocking the movie while, relaxing in our beds and slowly shutting down until we both finally drifted off to a peaceful slumber.  A dream-filled slumber filled with visions of Twi’lek and slave Leia dancers (ok maybe for one us 😉 ) until I awoke about 1am feeling like I needed to explode…from everywhere. Believe me when I say the feeling was real. Not to gross anyone out, but I spent the next three hours going back and forth from the bed to the bathroom. My nephew said it sounded like I was dying in there, and I know it’s how I felt. Eventually, with nothing left but feelings of exhaustion and worry about the rest of the trip, I finally fell asleep about 5am. And we were supposed to be up and out to make day 2 for 8am. What was going to happen?

Would I get sick again? Would I sleep through the morning? Would I not be able to get out of bed? Would I get my nephew sick?

Tune in later to see what happened. Same bat time. Same bat channel.

  1. I love the dichotomy of you guys spending the day at a venue honoring what is arguably one of the greatest films of all time and then winding down for the night by watching what is arguably one of the worst films of all time. Kudos to you for teaching the little guy balance.
