Tender Heart

Eyes and arms wide open
Against armies of anger and hate.
Gracious, greeting smiles
To welcome miles of painful memories.
Gentle words willingly fail
To soothe and smooth the ragged masses.
Walls upon walls
To etch and scar the tender heart.

The incessant surge
Of rabid packs press onward.
Shielded arm raised
To block, to break that beating tide.
Wrapped and warmed
To keep you safe in blanketed quiet.
Walls upon walls
To allow it feel. To heal.

  1. Given that I am reading your posts long after they were written, I cannot help but see that from one to the next you seem to give yourself over to everything, be it tenderness or rage, love or disgust. Yours is beautifully honest writing, no matter the genre.
